Galvalume (GL)
It is a aluminum-zinc alloy hot dipping steel sheet(GL) with high-corrosion resistance which is galvanized steel sheets with ideal combination of zinc that has benefits of self-sacrificing characteristic and alkali-resistance and aluminum that has benefits of durability, heat-resistance and acid-resistance.
consists of 55% of aluminum(AI), 43.3% of zinc(Zn) and 1.6% of silicon(Si) per weight, and aluminum takes 80% of volume ratio so, aluminum presents its full advantages while its weakness that is prone to generate red rust in iron exposure is covered by sIt is a product which took only a good point of aluminum and zinc; the gilded layer elf-sacrificial corrosion of zinc.
Characteristics
- It is about 3~6 times more corrosion-resistant compared to GI while it has a similar level of processability and weldability , it can replace GIs. Specially, it is most suitable when replacing GIs that require thick galvanized layers for high corrosion resistance
- It has beautiful appearance with unique silver spangles and it is the only galvanized steel sheet having high-corrosion resistance that is usable for roofing and walls without painting and it is used as a cool roofing material because of its excellent heat reflection feature.
- It can substitute for a part of aluminum gilded steel sheets because it has electrical conductivity and heat-resistance at high temperatures not exceeding 315°C.
- As the surface hardness of its gilded layer is greater than GIs, it has far excellent wear-resistant.
- With resin coating treatment, its corrosion resistance is increased much more and it enables roll forming or press forming without applying processing oil.
